In 2014, a generous couple blessed our parish with a considerable donation and a soon afterward a second generous donor stepped forward with another large gift. These gifts totaled $1,000,000 and the Sacred Heart Parish-Glen Ullin leaders focused on their responsibilities as faithful stewards to determine how to best use the funds to serve the present and future needs of the parish. After much discussion, the decision was to replace the old parish hall with a new parish center connected to the church. Although a million dollars is a very generous donation, it was not quite enough to build the new center with a state-of-the-art kitchen and the space necessary to seat 400 people.
The parish decided to borrow the extra money needed and with the approval of the Parish Expansion Board and the blessing of Bishop Kagan we were able to secure the additional funds to build the space envisioned. A commercial loan may not have been possible, but it became a reality with the Parish Expansion Fund. The low interest loan allowed Sacred Heart to build a beautiful building that will be enjoyed and used for many years to come by the parishioners of Sacred Heart. In April of 2016 we hosted a grand open house for Glen Ullin and the surrounding communities. We are so proud of our new space and we hope you will be able to stop in Glen Ullin to see the wonderful gift that God has so generously given us.
